A Knotty Problem

When two cars, a private vehicle and. a taxi, backing out from opposite sides of the Strand on a recent night collided, the drivers were presented with something of a problem. The taxi’s bumper had • pushed through the private car’s mudguard and all efforts to shift it were of no avail. The problem was solved by a bystander. He instructed the car driver to the brakes, on his vehicle. This done he jumped up and down on the bumper while others maintained a steady pressure. The car rolled forward and the perplexing problem was solved. A hole in the car’s mudguard and a smashed tail light appeared to be the only damage.
