ALEXANDER KORDA’S * AGREEMENT ' “ GUARANTEE AMOUNTING TO - £3,500,000 Sir Alexander, Korda and Mr Hugh Quennell, chairman of the British Lion Film Corporation, have returned from New York after completing an important deal. As a result all films made by Sir Alexander will be distributed in the United States, South America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand by the Twentieth Century-Fox Corporation.

“The deal covers 14 films at the moment,” Sir Alexander said, “and the minmum guaranteed to us is £3,500,000 within, I hope, the next two years.” Mr Spyros Skouras, president of Twentieth CenturyFox, making a similar announcement in America, said: “This is the most important releasing contract Twentieth Century-Fox has ever made. Its effect will be far-reaching and will do much to strengthen goodwill between the two great Eng-lish-speaking nations.

“American dollars gained from the exhibition of these pictures will go to England to replace .money taken from that country, wjiich is vital at this time. It will also stimulate British production by insuring an increased outlet for British pictures.”

The first film to be distributed in America under the agreement will be Oscar Wilde’s “An Ideal Husband,” starring Paulette Goddard and Michael Wilding. Sir Alexander Korda directed.
