AYRSHIRE BREEDERS
BAY OF PLENTY CLUB INAUGURAL MEETING The first annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Ayrshire Breeders’ Club was held in the Bay of Plenty and East Coast Herd Improvement Association’s rooms in Whakatane on Wednesday, July 16, members from as far as Rotorua and Tauranga being present. The business opened with the confirmation of the minutes of the previous meeting followed by the president’s report on the business for the past year. The election of officers followed, Mr S. Wright, Katikati, being elected president and Mr S. C. Busby, Whakatane, honorary secretary and treasurer. It .was decided there should be a general committee of all members.
Mr F. Hutchings, the Bay of Plenty ward’s delegate to the N.Z. Ayshire Cattle Breeders’ Association Council, then gave a concise report on the annual meeting held in Auckland in May. He dealt fully with the proposed scheme for the classification of females to come into effect next season. Each herd will be classified generally but individual classifications will be undertaken if required for a fee to be determined later. A brief discussion followed and the meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr J. Nedrich, the retiring secretary and also to Mr Carter for the use of the Herd Improvement Association’s rooms.
