CANNING & CO., The Strand, Whakatane. 206 WHAKATANE COUNTY ELECTORS’ ROLLS Pursuant to Section 44 of “The Counties Act, 1920” as amended by “The Local Election and Polls Amendment Act, 1946” notice is hereby given that the Roll of County Electors for the nine ridings of the County of Whakatane, is open for inspection at the County Office, Whakatane, at the Post Office at Murupara, Matata, Edgecumbe, Awakeri, Poroporo, Taneatua and Waimana and at the residence of Mr J. L. Burnett, Nukuhou and at the residence of Mr A. F. McGougan, Opouriao, where it may be inspected without fee by all persons interested therein, during office hours, until 15th August next. Section 45 of “The Counties Act, 1920” reads as follows: (1) Any person may, on or before the twenty-second day of August in each year in which a general election of Councillors is to be held, lodge with the Council an objection in writing under his hand to the county electors’ roll on any of the following grounds;— (a) That any person whose name is on the said roll in respect of any qualification does not possess that at the time when the objection'Ts'Todged; (b) That any person whose name is not on the said roll possesses the necessary at the time when the objection is lodged and is entitled to have his name enrolled; or (c) That the number of votes allotted to any person is greater or less than that to which he is entitled. (2) The Council shall forthwith, after receipt of any such objection, inquire into and dispose of the same. Residential Electors’ Roll: All persons possessing the requisite residential qualifications are eligible for enrolment as residential electors and are requested to communicate NOW with the County Office, Whakatane to ensure that their names are entered on the Riding \County Electors’ Roll of the riding of their domicile. Residential Electors’ enrolment forms are obtainable at the County Office, Whakatane. Before completing such enrolment forms, intending applicants are requested to please ascertain from the County Office, the name of the riding in which they reside. It is an offence to claim residential enrolment in other than the riding of domicile. Ratepayers’ Roll: The names of all ratepayer electors should be included in the rolls deposited at the Post Offices above mentioned. Ratepayer electors residing in a riding other than the riding or ridings in which their properties are situated, are entitled as respecting their riding of domicile, to enrolment as a resident I elector.
