POULTRY SHOW

TWO DAY FIXTURE HIGH STANDARD OF ENTRIES The two day winter show conducted by the Bay of Plenty Poultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Club concluded on Friday. The President of the Club, Mr I. J. Groves, told a Beacon representative that the birds compared very favourably with those entered in the recent Gisborne show. The Whakatane Show was a credit to those in charge and the only complaint was' at the lack of public support. Though the fixture had been well advertised public interest was very poor. • Judge’s Comments Commenting on the standard of the show generally, the judge Mr W. Hanliam, said that he was particularly pleased with the quality of the birds coming forward. Of the 203 birds exhibited he could single out the Rhode Island l Reds and the Black Orpingtons for special mention. These birds he declared were a credit to Whakatane and would hold their own in any show in the country.
