FISHERY PATROLS
WORK IN COASTAL WATERS PROTECTION FROM POACHERS The use of aircraft for fishery patrols will begin within the next few months as the latest move in the campaign to protect fishing areas from depletion by poachers. After a recent preliminary flight by an aircraft over the Hauraki Gulf and the northern coastline, the plan has been approved and two twin-engined British aircraft which are being brought to New Zealand for the Public Works Department will be employed. The aircraft will be particularly suitable for the work because of their low speed, and they will patrol at irregular periods over the length of the New Zealand coast.
