RATS!

TOTAL war will be declared on all rat-life in the Borough of Whakatane, commencing the first week in August and lasting throughout seven blood-thirsty days. The formal declaration has been made by the City Fathers who have invited the Harbour Board to co-operate with a view to Wipe out entirely the rat population surviving the flood on the waterfront. Citizens who in the past have complained of the multiplying rat menace, will now be given an opportunity to co-operate plus a free hand to act entirely on their own account.
