Bicycle Lamp Batteries

There is an acute shortage in Whakatane at present of bicycle lamp batteries and according to a retail firm in the town, there has been no indication as to when the position will improve. The shortage was put down to a difficulty in obtaining materials, and the fact that factories are concentrating on the smaller torch batteries rather than those for bicycle lamps. A small supply of the batteries is expected to come to hand shortly but it is thought that the present demand is so large that it will not relieve the shortage to any great extent.
