BRIDGE STREET FIRE YOUNG MAN’S LOSS A recently built bach in Bridge Street was gutted by fire shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday night. A call to the fire was answered by members of the Whakatane Fire Brigade who manned the engine and sped to the scene. The building was the property of a young man, Mr A. Atwood, and had only recently been erected. Though the damage, which - included the furniture, was fairly extensive prompt action by the brigade saved the building from becoming a total loss.
