CLEMENT WILLIAMS

TO VISIT WHAKATANE Whakatane music-lovers will be given the opportunity to hear on Wednesday, July 9, Clement Q. Williams, the eminent Australian baritone, who is making a short stay in New Zealand, prior to fulfilling broadcasting engagements in South Africa. This concert has been made possible through the efforts of the local Community Arts Service Committee.

Of Mr Clement Q. Williams’ recent concert in Auckland, the New Zealand Herald said: “A most interesting concert, given by a singer of rare charm. Mr Williams has an engaging platform manner, a very pleasing baritone voice, which in its higher registers approaches tenor quality, and an unerring instinct for grasping and conveying the mood of every song he sings. He brings with him a large repertoire of songs from which he is able to select a programme of wide interest.”

Clement Williams will be accompanied by Owen Jensen, who is well-known to Whakatane musiclovers. In addition to playing the accompaniments, Mr Jensen will be heard in several solo numbers.
