Joy Eosa The Oarnaru Winter Cup winner, Joy Rosa, has this season registered two wins and one second .in ten starts. She is a five-year-old mare by Salmagundi from Golden Vision by Paper Money from Melleray by Kilbroney.
His First Start
Mr G. Courtney, of Ngatea, scored a win at the Hawke’s Bay meeting with Best behaviour by Phaleron Bay—Good Conduct, therefore a brother to Good Bay and Donegal Bay, both good winners. It was his first start, and the victory was a popular one.
Tin Minsk at Avondale
The Te Aroha bred Tin Musk is now trained at Avondale by Paddy Docherty, and now that the wet season has set in to be followed by muddy tracks. The Musketoon gelding is likely to effect a surprise at any time. He truly loves muddy courses. A Tattersall’s Club Optimistically anticipating the report'of the Gaming Commission a sporting syndicate in the Empire City is forming a Tattersall’s Club with a capital of £25,000. An option has been secured over a suitable building, near the centre of the city, and it is reported that shares are selling freely. Evidently there is a large section of sportsmen who incline to the opinion that bookmakers may be legalised to stage a comeback.
May Not Be Ready Beau le Havre will be included in J. Farrell’s Stratford team for the Wellington meeting, but a decision will not yet be arrived at whether he will be a contestant at the meeting. Unless deemed to be sufficiently forward he will not be a starter, as a setback just now would imperil his Australia prospects.
May Make a Jumper Foxlore, now trained by A. Winder, Te Rapa, created a surprise at Waip a by being the runner-up to Gay Youth in the Kihikihi Handicap. The Foxbridge gelding may be given a course of jumping in the near future. Conspiracy For Trentham It is understood that Conspiracy will not be raced at Trentham on the first two days of the Wellington meeting, but may compete on the final afternoon. Young Trent Fancied Young Trent, winner of the open event at Awapuni, is greatly in favour for the Parliamentary Handicap, one mile and a quarter, at Trentham, as he is very partial to muddy tracks.
