“SEWERS” NEEDED
TO MEND CLOTHING RED CROSS APPEAL An opportunity for women to help alleviate in a small manner*, the suffering of 45,000,000 destitute children of Europe is' being afforded by the Whakatane Red Cross Society. Some time ago an appeal was made for used clothes in connection with the “save the children” campaign. The response to this appeal was very gratifying, the number of garments received being beyond the expectations of those who organised the drive. But large numbers of the articles received need repairing. In some cases only a button or two is required while in others a real job of work is necessary. It is for this purpose that all women who wish to show their appreciation of the hardships being experienced by European children are asked to attend the Red Cross rooms on Tuesday afternoon next. They are requested to bring their own needles and thimbles and any buttons available.
