Old Trade Token
Another trade token has been found in the Tauranga district and although the one previously mentioned was struck in New Zealand, the latest is of English origin. It was dug up recently when preparing ground /or a lawn in the vicinity of the Gate Pa trenches. The token is dated 1858, the previous one being 1871. It was issued for a wellknown patent remedy of those days. On the reverse side of the token is a reproduction of Greek sculpture.
