Mr P. J. Twomey, Director of the Lepers’ Trust Board, has now left hospital and will shortly conduct his annual appeal for the Island Lepers.

Mr G. Reid, of the WhakataneCounty office staff, will be leaving the office at the end of next week to* take up his new appointment as clerk to the Thames Valley Drainage Board at Te Aroha. As its meeting on Tuesday the council passed a motion conveying its best wishes to Mr Reid for his future success. Mr J. D. Carling has been appointed to the council’s staff to fill the vacancy.

Canon Frazer who is ministering to the Whakatane Church of England parish until the return of the vicar, spent much of his life im Liverpool, England, until his retirement. Since his arrival in New Zealand 14 months ago he has spent a year in charge of the parish of Sumner, Christchurch. Canon Frazer was reared on a small farm in Northern Ireland and after a few years, as a teacher he studied for the Church and became a curate and later a vicar in Liverpool. • .
