TOWNSHIP’S NEEDS
FOOTPATHS AT TANEATUA QUESTION OF COMMENT Whether anything could be done about concreting the footpaths at Taneatua now that the cement position has eased, was a question asked by Cr H. C. McCready. The engineer replied that the council had accepted a tender for the work but was waiting for a permit to use cement. The cement position was getting easier and in a short time this job could be gone on with. Cr McCready spoke of less urgent concrete work being done in the towns.
The chairman, Cr J. L. Burnett, said the work could not be started until the council received an allocation of cement.
Asked if the cement position was easier, Cr W. A. McCracken said there was no trouble about getting cement through a dairy company for piggeries and cowsheds. The Engineer: We will make application for cement and see what can be done.
Cr McCready: The footpaths are very bad. I nearly put my ankle out the other day. An application is to be made to the Building Controller for authority to purchase cement for footpath construction.
