POWER POSITION
BAY OF PLENTY BOARD ■%r CUTS STILL LIKELY Commenting on the power position as far as the Bay of Plenty is concerned, Mr J. D. j Dicker, engineer-manager of the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board, stated on Tuesday that the position was being carefully watched. A statement would probably be made before the weekend as to what cuts would have to be made. On Monday the consumption was 8000 units in excess of the latest allocation, and it would mean a lengthy cut to make up for this. Consumers could help cpnsiderably in conserving power, particularly at the peak periods of 7.30 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. If consumers would conserve as much as possible during that period it would help the board. In all probability notification would be given as to the action to be taken. There was still a ban on the use of electric heaters and a heavy penalty would be imposed for breaches of this regulation.
