When war ended we naturally thought food would get a bit better and queuing would stop. Now in a way the food position is no better... My son and I are each entitled to l/4d. worth of meat each week and I give him my share because he works so hard at the shipyard. I usually make do with a bowl of soup. We get half a pint of milk each day between us and one pint on Sundays and during the children’s holidays. My son likes porridge or cornflakes—so you can see how far a half pint of milk will go. Besides, I have nothing else for his breakfast except his 3 oz. of bacon and one egg (when I can get it) once a week. You will know from this how we live yet in my heart I thank God and.can take my rest in peace after all those terrible years of war. But there you are ... what can we do about it?” * * ★ There’s nothing that these hungry Britons can do about it except wait and hope . . . wait for the foodships which are now being filled all over the world and hope that these ships will not be long delayed. Do your part to FILL THESE FOODSHIPS by avoiding delay in the production and ' delivery of food.
