WEDDING BELLS

BARTZ—BENNETT A wedding of considerable interest to Bay of Plenty residents took place recently when Margaret Dawn, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Les Bennett, of Whakatane, was married to Idras Howard Bartz, of Tauranga, at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church. The Rev. D. Rankin of Tauranga officiated, and Mrs Fraser played suitable music before and after the ceremony. •« The bride entered the Church on her father’s arm, wearing a lovely frock of diaphanous cream silk cobweb lace, with matching frilled veil, held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms. Her beautiful bouquet completed a .most delightful ensemble.

The bridesmaids, Miss Nancy Brown and Miss Jean Forsythe, friends of the bride from the nursing staff of the Tauranga Hospital, looked charming in picturesque frocks of palest green, their mittens, bouquets and flowered head bands of cyclamen making an unusual contrast. The best man was Mr Allan Talbot, of Tauranga, and the groomsman, Mr Toohill, of Edgecumbe. As the bride left the Church, she was presented with a white satin horse shoe, by her cousin, Pamela. At the Reception

The reception was held at the Parish Hall, where the guests were welcomed by the mother of the bride, wearing a blue model frock with black accessories, assisted by Mrs Bartz, senr., in a smart costume. Miss Dorothy Stewart, accompanied by Mrs L. R. Spring, gave a most enjoyable rendering of Til Walk Beside You.’

The two-tiered cake, made by the bride’s mother, and beautifully iced by Mrs P. Dixon, was duly cut and the toasts ably responded to by the Rev. D. Rankin, the bride’s father and father-in-law, Mr W. Henderson and Mr John Wright. A charming gesture of the bride was to take her lovely bouquet to the hospital, as a gift to Mrs Carey. Mr and Mrs I. H. Bartz left for the North, the bride looking particularly smart in a black ensemble with white accessories. Their future home is in Katikati. Pre-wedding Kitchen Tea Prior to the wedding, a kitchen tea had been given to the bride by Mesdames Marklarid and Sims, which was much enjoyed by all present.
