SEEING THE COUNTRY

CYCLING TOUR OF N.Z. TASMANIAN GIRLS’ HOLIDAY Cycling all over New Zealand in the middle of winter may not be everybody’s idea of a pleasant holiday, but two hardy Tasmanian girls are enjoying it. Friends since they were eight years old and both coming from Hobart, Miss Elaine Pearce, a horticulturist, 1 and Miss Miriam Frazer, a mothercraft nurse, who have been visiting Te Kuiti, started their journey from Wellington, cycling up the west coast. They are most enthusiastic .in their praise for the scenery between Waitara and Awakino; it reminds them of parts of Tasmania.

When a few miles out from New Plymouth and resting by the roadside, they were invited by a member of the New Plymouth Aero Club to be the club’s guests. They were taken up in two Tiger Moths and were given lunch at the clubhouse. From Te Kuiti the girls continued on to Hamilton, hoping to continue on their journey to Auckland and down the East Coast. Then they will travel to the South Island. “We hope to see everything it’s possible to see in New Zealand,” said Miss Frazer.
