WHAKATANE MEN’S CLUB An Open Day on the Whakatane Links on the King’s Birthday attracted a good-number of local play- * ers who had an enjoyable day’s golf. Some good scores were made, the outstanding round being T. A. Bridger 85—17—68, which secured 36 Stableford points and earned a reduction of his handicap by two strokes. The results of the competitions were: 36-hole gross medal, A. Cradwick 165, N. Hockin 166. hole nett medal, T. A. Bridger 146, A. Powdrell 147. Bogey Handicap’ W. Syme 2 down (on count back from N. Ducker). Stableford Bogey,T. A. Bridger 36, N. Hockin 35. On the coming weekend players will complete wherever possible all postponed matches in the Clarke and Reynolds Cup competitions. To finalise No. 4 section in the Clarke Cup I. Wylds plays G. Tippett. In the No. 7 section of the Reynolds Cup a medal round will be played by A. C. Anderson, B. Barry and P. Campbell to decide the winner of the section.

The results of ' the May Extra Medal were: For the Silver Division Mrs Symirians’s 90—12—78 was the best card. Miss Robins returned a good score for the Bronze Division 89—19—70 which now makes her a Silver Division player with a handicap of 18. The notice put up on the board last Saturday should have read “On Saturdays Wednesday players must at all times give way to Saturday and men players.” Allan Trophy Matches: The fourth round of the Allan Trophy matches results were: Mrs Armstrong beat Mrs Fogerty and Miss Black beat Miss Robins. The final match now to be played will be between Miss Black and Mrs Armstrong.
