DISSATISFACTION EXPRESSED
Dissatisfaction with the existing supply of fertilisers, as it was today, was expressed at a conference in Tauranga last week to discuss the proposal to establish a fertiliser works in the district. A motion on these lines was moved by Mr J. C. Aitken and seconded by Mr J. T. Reid. Delegates unanimously supported this view. Later in the meeting, Mr F. D. Donovan (Te Puke) suggested to the committee which was appointed to investigate the advisability of establishing a fertiliser works in the district, that it investigate the present deadlock in fertilisers. He felt that the present position of fertilisers was of vital importance. The committee should investigate the question. A recommendation to this effect failed to find a seconder. A statement that the amount of fertiliser arrears was considerable, was made by Mr S. A. Wells (Katikati). One firm, he explained was 1200 tons in arrears. Mr J. T. Reid also referred to delays in supplies reaching that district.
