WOMEN’S DIVISION

TANEATUA BRANCH EIGHTEENTH BIRTHDAY A very enjoyable afternoon was spent by those present at the 18th birthday party of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Taneatua, held in the hall supper room. The room had been effectively decorated with autumn leaves and flowers and a blazing fire gave added cheer and comfort.

Mrs Prince (president) opened the afternoon by welcoming members and their friends hfter which Miss Cushla Doran played “The Rustle of Spring” in a very accomplished manner and was accorded hearty applause. A wall competition followed and this was won by Mrs Goodhew. A play reading “The Light Weight,” a story with a background was acted by Mesdames Yeoman, Prince and Goodhew.

A game “Beetles” caused considerable amusement until afternoon tea was served. After afternoon tea a delicious birthday cake, made by Mrs Prince and adorned by 18 candles, was cut and dispensed. This ceremony and the singing of the National Anthem concluded a very pleasant party.
