SCHOOL WATER

LARGE ACCOUNT READINGS TO BE TAKEN The chairman of the Whakatane District High School Committee reported to the meeting on Wednesday that a large account, double that in the past, had been received for water used at the Primary School. According to the account twice as much water was being used in the Primary School as in the Secondary Department. It was decided to ask the Borough Council to take test readings of the meter as soon as possible. If these were proved to be correct some form of saving would have to be instituted. Many suggestions such as cutting the water off at night and finding exactly how much sports bodies who used the grounds during the weekend used were offered.
