GULLS FEATHERED AND HUMAN

The feathered creatures of the sea, Claim an ahtideluvian pedigree; Fathers, mothers, sons and daughters Find their food in the world of waters; Identical in form and feather, Held instinctively together, Each according to their kind, By nature’s laws, that firmly bind, All the creatures of the wild; Parents produce a fac-simile child Inter-breeding birds and beast and nations, Creates strange and strained relations, ■ Causes international strife, ■Wanton waste and loss of life; Changes for worse instead of better, Forges many a cruel fetter, That chafes the limbs of Liberty fair; * , And substitutes for hope dispair; Change and decay go hand in hand; And toll the knell in many a land, That had the chance of making good, Had those responsible withstood, The wiles of those whose sole dlesire, Was easy money to acquire, •' Regardless of the cost do those, Condemned to bear war’s bitter woes; The only remedy plain to see, Is to loose and let Liberty free, And bind with bonds they ne’er will

break; Those who make war for money’s sake, ‘ Deprive them of their sordid gain, And let them bear depressions pain; A punishment that once for all, Would silence the martial bugle call; Construction can make the money go, Much farther than war’s destructive woe; Peaceful production could and would Work together for world-wide good, And find a safe place in the sun Everywhere for everyone; In spite of the power that money wields, Mankind will come to elesium fields, Where all for one and one for all, Will be the motto that will pall, All nations that on earth do dwell, To learn to treat each other well.
