YOUNG CALEDONIANS

CAMPBELL EVENING ENJOYABLE FUNCTION On Saturday night the Campbell Clan of the Whakatane Young Caledonians held a very enjoyable dance in the Caledonian Hall, King Street. . After the piping in the chief of the Campbell Clan, Mr G. Paterson, stated that he had to apologise for the fact that there were no items on the programme. This was unavoidable, however, as many 'clan members were away on holiday. The black curtains were decorated with the words “Campbell Clan” which made a very striking'display. Features of the evening included a number of novelty dances as well as the dancing of the Scottish folk dance ‘Dashing White Sergeant’ by pupils of Mr Anderson. In a lucky partner Gay Gordons one lucky partner was Mr Stewart. The recipient of the prize was his daughter, Miss D. Stewart. Miss B. Mole was the other lucky partner and was dancing with Chief Anderson who received the prize. Mr M. Brown and Miss M. Wilson won a competition waltz. Music was supplied by Mr H. Waite at the piano and Mr H. D. Paterson on the drums. Extras were given by Miss D. Stewart and Miss J, Howat.

A delightful supper was served. Messrs. T. Dockray and G. Paterson were Masters of Ceremonies.
