WAR MEMORIAL FUNDS

TANEATUA DANCE Y.P.C. FUNCTION A very well attended dance sponsored by the re-formed Young People’s Club was. held in the Taneatua Hall recently. The 8.8. C. Orchestra from Opotiki supplied the music and Mr F. Gardner made a capable M.C. Monte Carlos were won by W. Newell and partner and D. Bennett and partner while Mr D. Bennett and Miss Molly Lambert won the Statue Waltz. A very delicious home-made supper was served by members of the Young People’s Club. Proceeds from the dance will go to the Taneatua War Memorial Fund and it is the intention of the club to promote monthly dances to raise money for this fund. The second dance will be held on June 2 to conclude the monster gala day to be held in Taneatua, also in aid of the Memorial Fund. The committee has reversed its decision to make this a “Back to Childhood Dance” which will probably be held later in the series but they will commence a series of four Monte Carlos on that evening. Prizes will be given each evening and the winners will dance off the final for a substantial prize.
