MILK SUPPLY
WORST EVER COUNCILLORS’ COMMENT At Monday’s meeting of the Borough Council Cr W. Sullivan raised the question of the low standard of the town milk supply. The product delivered to householders was a chalky substance which had undergone pasteurisation and was actually the previous day’s milk. It seemed nonsense to enforce pasteurised milk on 3000 people when another 7000 outside the borough drank raw milk. Townspeople should be allowed to. choose between pasteurised milk and the raw product.
•It was decided to instruct the Town Clerk to write to the authorities with a view to having the subject of pasteurising 1 milk in the borough thoroughly gone into and to find out if householders could have the option of making their choice between it and the raw product.
