Forthcoming ‘Burns’ Lecture

Where Scotsmen foregather the “Haggis” acts like a magnet. Usually Burns functions are celebrated around the poet’s birthday, January 29th, but the Caledonian Society’s function next week will not be a full-dress haggis night. The chief guest and speaker, Mr A. J. Sinclair, is a Motherwell man and is general manager of the Te Awamutu Dairy Company. He is recognised among Scottish Societies as one of New Zealand’s leading authorities on Rabbie Burns. Prior to the war, he had regular sessions on the air, his subjects covering a wide range of traditional Scottish history and they were popular features with listeners.
