BUILDING HOUSES IN N.Z. In New Zealand 40 per cent, of the total labour force in builling and construction ■ (which includes public works) was occupied on house-building last October, according to figures given by the National Employment Service. In Great Britain 26 per cent, of the building and construction labour force is stated to have been engaged on new housing last October and in the United States 21 per cent. In Great Britain, however, a further 16 per cent, of the building and construction labour force was being used to repair houses damaged during the war. . / The New Zealand figures showed that 5417 employees were engaged on building private houses and 5261 on State houses.
