BOROUGH EXPANSION

RECENT discussion by the Borough Council makes it evident that Whakatane must expand its Borough limits if it is to cope with the increasing demands of those desiring ..to make it their home. We wonder if it has ever occurred to home-seekers or to City Fathers, to explore the possibilities of an ocean-side suburb, across the harbour in the lee of the line of sandhills. Here is rich level land, all above flood level, less than half a mile from the business area and readily accessable by landing stage and ferry service. The prospects are attractive and should command attention and investigation.
