Not For Women
A recommendation that organised Women’s Soccer be introduced in Invercargill was promptly quashed at the annual meeting of the Southland Football Association. “I think the idea should be dropped. Soccer is anything but a ‘sissy’ game,” declared Mr W. Holding. He was supported by Mr W. Ferguson, who said the association’s first job was to get men playing the game. The idea was dropped.
