Flying Popular in Australia

Air travel was becoming very popular in Australia, where long land journeys were inevitably tiring, said Mr G. A. H. Helson, of Canberra, who is visiting Christchurch. Businessmen found that train journeys took valuable time, and that they arrived for conferences fatigued. By flying , they could eliminate night journeys, and often complete their business and return home in one day. It took about eight hours to travel from Canberra to Sydney by train; but the air triptook only 45 minutes—“not time to read a newspaper—a decent newspaper,” said Mr Helson.
