Blissfully unaware of the legal niceties that have to be complied with before a salmon can be taken, he caught the fish in a shallow pool by the simple process of throwing a stone at it. The stone hit the fish on the head, peaking a clean kill. The lad then struggled off to the car with a fish almost as big as himself.
Army Radios Sold More than 2500 people purchased ZCI receiving and transmitting sets at a public sale on behalf of the War Assets Realisation Board. These sets, which were manufactured during the war, are most adaptable to peacetime use. The retail price of each set is £2O, but a licence must be obtained from the Post and Telegraph Department before purchase. Yachtsmen, owners of fishing trawlers, amateur radio operators, fire brigades, ambulance boards, are among purchasers or intending purchasers. “Small Farmers’ ’ “There are many country districts that need both population and labour,” the Minister of Agriculture, Mr E. L. Cullen, said to a deputation of farmers who met him in Dunedin. “We must increase the number of houses in the rural areas, and establish small holdings for men who are , assured of continuous work in a . district.
