WHAKATANE SUB-UNION PROSPECTS FOR COMING * SEASON The annual general meeting of the Whakatane Rugby Sub-Union took place in the County Council Chambers on Wednesday, April 19. Mr W. S. Henderson presided. The meeting was attended by a large number of supporters and a very satisfactory number of team nominations indicates a good season’s Rugby. • Election of Officers The following were elected to fill the offices for the ensuing season:— Patron, Mr W. R. Boon; president, Mr W. S. Henderson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. G. Lodge, P. Coutts, J. D. Rivett, N. Bremner, H. C. Alexander, Rev. Rangi, S. McLeod and C. L. Hudson; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr D. O. Stewart; management committee, to comprise of two delegates from each club; auditor, Mr G. Reid; hon. solicitor, Mr L. Buddie; hon. surgeons, Drs. Maaka, Appleby, Fletcher Cole and Akel; selector, senior: Messrs. . P. Bryers, J. Brown and J. Keepa; juniors: Messrs. J. Gordan, C. Wells and G. Mitchell; 3rd grade: Messrs. A. Cane and Stewart; delegates to Bay of Plenty Union, Messrs. W. S. Henderson and D. O. Stewart.

Nominations In the senior competition six teams were nominated and the affiliation of a new club, Public Works, was accepted. In the junior competition, so far. five teams had been nominated, and three Third Grade. It was decided to fix opening day for May 3. RANGITAIKI SUB-UNION DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND The draw for the first round in Rugby to be played under the Rangitaiki Sub-Union is as follows: Seniors April 26: Matata v Thornton; Matahina v Otakiri; Edgecumbe v Te Teko. May-3: Thornton v Edgecumbe; Otakiri v Matata; Te Teko v Matahina. - May 10: Edgecumbe v Matata; Te Teko v Otakiri; Thornton v Matahina. May 17: Matahina v Edgecumbe; Otakiri v Thornton; Matata v Te Teko. May 24: Edgecumbe v Otakiri; Thornton v Te Teko; Matahina v Matata. Juniors April 26: Thornton v Matata; Te Teko v Edgecumbe; Otakiri a bye. May 3: Edgecumbe v Thornton; Matata v Otakiri; Te Teko a bye. May 10: Matata v Edgecumbe; Otakiri v Te Teko; Thornton a bye.
