WHAKATANE SOCIETY The April meeting of the Whakatane Philatelic Society took place in the Borough Council Chambers, Mr H. 6. Garawoy presiding over a fair attendance. The evening passed in a general discussion on New Zealand stamps, ind an interesting review of some of the raretities .amongst recent issues. That stamp collecting is gaining a growing number of active adherents'was obvious from the increasing number of sister Societies now being formed, the latest being in Rotorua. The local group has decided to write congratulating Mr J. L. Berrv designer of the Peace Stamp issue on the excellence of his work in the pictorial set which will be withdrawn at the end of the month.
