SHUTDOWN WARNING

CUT OFF ALL SWITCHES NOTICE TO HOUSEHOLDERS <S We have been requested by the Electrical Supply Authorities to emphasise the necessity of switching off all power switches when the shutdowns occur. This is urgently necessary in order to lift the strain on the load when power is restored. If lights and radiators are left on the strain upon the newly reticulated load is likely to cause further dislocation with very serious and widespread effects. The power should be permitted to circulate freely and thus allowed to regain its normal strength before it is taxed with its normal loading. Householders would do well to remember that the safest thing to do when the shutdown occurs is to cut off the main switch until the period for the power restoration has expired.
