CAR IN DRAIN

OCCUPANTS UNHURT An Oldsmobile car travelling between Waimana and Taneatua late Thrsday afternoon, left the road near the home of Mr Kirk. The two occupants of the car had been spending a holiday in Gisborne and were returning to Rotorua. A truck driven by Mr Kirk was travelling in the opposite direction and stopped on the side of the road. A dog jumped from the truck in front of the approaching car. The driver of the car swerved to try and not hit the dog, but the dog was killed. The car got out of control and ended up in a 4ft. drain. A breakdown truck was necessary to remove the car, which was slightly damaged. The occupants escaped with a shaking.
