PUBLIC NOTICES N.Z. NATIONAL PARTI* The annual meeting of the Awakeri branch will be held in the Awakeri Hall on Monday, March 31st, at 8.15 p.m. , Mr Sullivan, M.P., will be present at this meeting. 365 SCOUT JAMBOREE FUND WHAKATANE LOCAL ASSN. Since the raising of the cost per ' head to £285, the Whakataiie Local Association has been compelled reluctantly to withdraw the names of those Scouts nominated from the district for the Dominion Contingent which is expected to attend the World Scout Jamboree in France, next August.
Although the deepest _disappointment is felt in the various Scouting centres it is realised that the sum fixed at such short notice by Dominion Headquarters is totally beyond the capacity of the community and the parents concerned. It is the intention of the Association to devote all monies collected to form a special fund which will be devoted mainly towards' the sending of every available boy from the Whakatane district to the Paci-_-fic Jamboree, which will be held Auckland in January, 1949. .*-? In thanking all those who have ' " worked for the movement over the past twelve months campaign for funds, and particularly those who have made donations, the Associa-' tion under all the "existing circumstances feels honour-bound to invite such donars to withdraw their donations if they so, desire. This may be done by contacting the district Secretaries who will obtain a refund through the District Secretary, Mr P. J. Green. Those whose continued goodwill permits them to'-leave their donations in the Scout fund can rest assured that they will be de-. voted towards a good purpose similar to that for which the money was originally subscribed.
