WIN FOR RANGITAIKI ST. GEORGE’S OUTCLASSED In a keen inter-club competition held recently St. George’s (Whakatane) Club were beaten by Rangitaiki by 10 matches to six. Details of the play were as under, Rangitaiki names being mentioned first in each instance:— Ladies’ Singles: Miss J. Burke 7 beat Miss M. Hall 2; Miss M. Robins 7 beat Miss P. Gartshore 6; Mrs Chambers 7 beat Mrs McKenzie 2; Miss M. Gow 5 lost to Mrs Hall 7. Men’s Singles: R. Lees 9 beat E. Wilson 3; B. Peni 8 lost to P. Bryers 9; G. Horwood 9 beat R. Hansen 2; E. Blair 4 lost to W. Howat 9. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses Burke and Robins 7 beat Mrs and Miss Hall 5; Mrs Chambers and Miss Gow 4 lost to Mrs McKenzie and Miss Gartshore 7. Men’s Doubles: Rees and Peni 8 lost to Wilson and Bryers 9; Horwood and Blair 4 lost to Hansen and Howat 9. Combined Doubles: Miss Burke and Lees 9 beat Miss Hall and Wilson 2; Miss Robins and Peni 9 beat Mrs Hall and Bryers 6;- Mrs Chambers and Horwood 9 beat Mrs McKenzie and Hansen 4; Miss Gow and Blair 9 beat Miss Gartshore and Howat 5.
