NEW COUNCILLOR

Cr. J. H. B. WARNER APPOINTED

At the meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council last Monday evening, the resignation of Cr C. W. Good who has joined membei’ship with a proprietary firm in the town was accepted with regret. Referring to Cr Good’s term of service, His Worship the Mayor (Mr B. S. Barry) said that he had been a very valued member of the Council over a number of years and he personally was exceedingly sorry to see his resignation though under the Local Bodies Act it was impossible for him to retain his seat.

Mr Barry went on to say that following the Council’s usual procedure when emergency vacancies had occurred, it was now proposed to instal the next candidate figuring on tlft Municipal Poll, in the person of Mr J. H. B. Warner as a Borough Councillor. This course was agreed upon and Mr Warner who was present formally welcomed and the statutory path administered.
