Baby Competition Winner The winner of the up to six months class in the Baby Competition at the Plunket Society Garden Party held last week was Baby Rosemary Ranby. ) Whakatane Lawn Tennis Club On Tuesday, March 25, at 7.30 p.m. at the A.T.C. Building there will be screened a Tennis Coaching Film. Whakatane club members, friends and intending members are cordially invited to attend. Chairmen of Licensing Committees Mr E. L. Walton, S.M., has been appointed as chairman of the Hauraki, Tauranga and Gisborne Licensing Districts. Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., has been appointed chairman of the Raglan, Piako, Waikato, Hamilton and Bay of Plenty Licensing Districts. Mr Walton was previously chairman of the Bay of Plenty Committee which held its meetings at Opotiki. The Bay of Plenty Committee will now meet at Rotorua. Borough Harbour Rate In the past the Whakatane Borough Council has accepted the sum of £25 from the Harbour B.oard in return for the collection of the Board’s rate within the Borough. The rate concerned amounts to roughly some £4OO per anum. When considered at last Monday’s meeting of the Council the question of revising the charge owing to increased costs and increasing rate was discussed and the matter was referred to the" Finance Committee for recommendation.
