HOLLAND TOURISTS
RAPID RECOVERY FROM WAR DAMAGE
Holland is now in a position to entertain a reasonable number of tourists this year.
This is the report of tourist officials in Amsterdam who point to the rapid progress made in reconstruction of Holland’s tourist facilities and the restoration of normal railroad schedules.
This city escaped serious war damage. Its historical monuments, as well as those of The Hague, Delft, and Leyden, are in good condition. The quaint villages of Volendam and Marken have resumed their pre-war aspect. Fisherfolk still wear their traditional costumes so dear to the hearts of amateur photographers. Dutch gardeners are busily at work restoring the famous bulb fields around Haarlem. Holland, long noted for its hospitality to visitors, promises a royal welcome to its first post-war tourists.
