FRENCH RADIO
COMPARISON WITH 8.8. C. The Director-General of French broadcasting (M. Vladimir Porche) told foreign correspondents in Paris recently that France intended to play a leading part in the development of world radio programmes. He said that the subject had been studied thoroughly in France and it was proposed to alternate French home programmes with relayed overseas programmes, such as 8.8. C. features and U.S. recorded programmes.
This had already been done to a certain extent, he said, and had proved successful. He admitted that the comparison thus provided had been a little sharp, but at least it had provided French technicians and programme directors with invaluable experience. As time went by the French radio programmes were becoming more and more polished, and it would not be long before French programmes ranked with the world’s best productions. M. Porche was emphatic that the programmes from Paris would never lose their essentially French outlook and spirit.
