GARDEN PARTY

PLUNKET SOCIETY FUNDS Last week the Whakatane branch of the Plunket Societly held a most successful Garden Party at Mrs A. R. Knights’ residence. The Baby Competition proved very popular. Miss North, who acted as judge, stated it was difficult in all classes to assess marks as many tied and only by carefully assessing of points could she be sure of judgment as to winners. “It is very encouraging” said Miss North, “in talking to mothers to know they appreciate the help of the Plunket Society and the lessons learnt in the bringing up of their children.”

Results of the Baby Competitions were: Six months, Leone Box; 12 months, Michael Rae; 2 years, Peter Debreceny; Twins, Philcox Babies. Lucky number, No. 45 May Bartlett. Other competition results were as folows: Cake, Ticket C 5, Mr Quayle, 55 Victoria Avenue; Butter: Ticket Al 3, John Scragg; Sweets: Ticket A 37, A. A. Atkinson, Salonika Street; Petticoats: Ticket 820, Mrs Waitangi Rua; Dinner: Ticket 833, E. Hunt, Landing Road; Preserves: Ticket A 47, Pam Hudson, Hillcrest; Typo:,. Mrs Duthie; Golf: Mrs Timbs; Qu,oits: Mrs Kemp; Croquet: lan Dainton.
