Plaster Coffins Not Favoured
A remit from the Wairarapa Builders’ Association that, to conserve timber, substitutes should be used in making coffins did not meet with approval at the conference of the New Zealand Federated Builders’ Association, Sponsors of the remit said that in Masterton a fibrous plaster manufacturer was making coffins in plaster. After some discussion the conference rejected the • remit by a large majority. “Heritage” Work The low administrative expenses of the “Heritage” movement were comented on by the chairman of the Dominion executive, Dr. O. Mazengarb, in his report to the annual conference of the organisation. “Much of the work done for the children is performed volun-_ tarily,” he said, “and the personal advice, guidance and encouragement which they receive cannot be valued in terms of money. But in addition to that personal service, the sum of £2727 has been spent in direct financial assistance for educational and vocational purposes, medical, dental and optical attention.
