WHAKATANE CLUB ARMSTRONG CUP RACE (By “Canvas”) Once again on Saturday the fortnightly club races were held. The attendance was poor this week owing to holidays, and sickness with a result only two crews took the water making one race only. ■*- This was for the I S. Armstrong Cu.p’ and resulted in a good tussle from start to finish with D. Keepa (s), E. Hunt (3), G. Dines (2), A. Atkinson (b), T. Maxwell (cox) crossing the line about 10 feet ahead of R. King (s), H. Armstrong (3), G. Moore (2), B. Fitzgerald (b), C. McLean cox. A Successful Dance In the evening the Club held a very successful dance in the Caledonian Hall. There was a good attendance and quite a number of novelty dances .were held. Mr R. King made a very efficient M.C. and kept the crowd going. Excellent music was provided by Freddie Burt’s archestra. Two Teams for Ngaruawahia Next Saturday is the final regatta of the season for the Auckland district. It is being held at Ngaruawahia and the local club will be represented by two crews.
