THE ONEPU BLUES
We’ve got ’em again “Those Onepu Blues” Our paddocks are bare as the soles of our shoes There isn’t a skerrick of grass to be seen And the pine trees it seems are the only things green. We’ve fed ou,t our turnips, our maize and some hay Hoping and hoping it will rain some day. We listen to forecasts morny noon and night, Oh yes, a depression is coming alright! But it’s fading away in the South Tasman Sea Which isn’t worth sixpence to you or to me. But we’ve lots to be thankful for lads, and so cheer-up Remember our butter is wanted in Europe (sorry) And remember it’s no good being profane fFor every dry day, is a day nearer rain. G. ASPING.
