WIIAKATANE EXECUTIVE MEETS THE HOUSING PROBLEM The February meeting of the Whakatane branch of the R.S.A. took place last Friday. Present: Mr Dave Wilson (chair), J. Stewart, L. W. Luxton, T. Macken, G. Otlejq A. Hall, Doug Wilson, Rev. Rangi, J. H. Armstrong, G. W. Mexted, J. Bryant, R. Bluett and L. M. Roach. Apologies were received from Messrs. L. H. Brown, C. R. Wilson, C. A. Head, B. Cutler and N. Patterson.
A deputation from the Home Servicemen's Association waited on the meeting with reference to a forthcoming function and it was unanimously decided to assist that Association as far as possible.
Remits to be submitted to the conference to be held at Hamilton on March 1 were discussed at length. Mr Hall brought to the notice of the meeting the desperate position of housing in Whaaktane. After considerable discussion the following sub-committee was set up to enquire into the whole position: G. Otley, A. Hall, Dave Wilson and Doug Wilson.
