Trains at Easter It is too early- yet to decide whether coal will be available for extra trains at Easter, says a message from Wellington. Coal is admittedly scarce at present but, with six weeks to go, there is still plenty of time for production to overtake consumption. Further, goods . services are curtailed during holiday periods, making more coal available for passenger services. School Boy Injured A lucky escape from more serious injury was experienced by a school boy, Brian Agnew, whose parents reside at Ohope yesterday. The lad was sitting below a classroom window when another pupil inside endeavoured to open it. Unfortunately the window was without hinges and fell on a group of three boys sitting below. Two others escaped with minor injuries, but Brian received part of the sash on tha top of his head, inflicting a nasty gash. He was removed to hospital where his condition is reported to be satisfactory. Druids Picnic Members of the Druids Lodge held a most enjoyable picnic to Whale Island last Sunday, some of the party trying their hand at fishing while the rest played games or explored on the Island. Highlights of the day were the efforts of a certain rotund member to land the “bigest ever” from a dinghy, and the extraordinary skill displayed by some members of the shore party in imitating the island inhabitants. The day was voted by all a huge success, and members are looking forward to the next picnic shortly to the lakes.
