WINTER SEASON HAILED
DUDE RANCHES IN ARIZONA EXPECTED TOURIST RUSH 1 Yipee, Ye-ow! It’s dude ranching time in central and southern Arizona, states an American newspaper. Yes, sir-ree, they’re dusting off saddles and hanging up the traditional horseshoe over entrances to dude ranches as resort operators make ready to greet the season’s expected tourist rush. So great has been the demand for accommodation at Arizano’s ranches, winter resorts, and lodges, that facilities are being expanded as rapidly as possible to care for the influx.
The demand for motor court accommodation has been so great that many new courts and hoteds have been built and others are now under construction. Modern trailer courts also have sprung up in many sections where before there was only mesquite and cactus. '
Arizona’s sudden spurt in popularity is attributed to thousands of ex-G.l.’s who are coming back to visit the State where they received their war training. Many of these former servicemen, it is reported, are establishing permanent residence in the State.
According to the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, inquiries as to available accommodation are running 300 to 400 per cent, ahead of the 1940-41 season, last prewar winter vacation period.
